Ok, I fully support public transportation, but some days I've been pretty irritated.

The VIVA bus machines at various stops often don't tell you the right # of minutes till the bus is going to arrive/depart. At Mccowan and Hwy 7 on the Purple, I stand waiting for more than 15 minutes very often. The machine will often say 3 minutes and go to 1 minute and go back up to 3, sometimes it goes back up to something higher like 10 minutes. Honestly... I don't understand what is going on! I used to trust the time it said, but now I don't anymore. Even if it says 26 minutes, I don't go get a coffee from the tim hortons across the street, because 26 minutes could be more like 5 minutes, or vice versa!

Do you think I have right to comment on this and make them aware that it irritates users? I know it is not just me, people have been quite angry waiting for the bus and looking at the flip flopping time listed.

UPDATE FEB 2 2007
So I left a comment through the VIVA website and received confirmation of my comments the day after. This week I received an email from a support staff individual with questions about my comments and such. I was impressed that I got a HUMAN response! lol. Kudos to VIVA.

That bugs me too, but the Viva is really great in comparison to the local busses in Newmarket/East Gwillumbury. I take the 58, 55 and then Viva every morning, and once I get to the Viva I sigh with relief because the Newmarket waits are terrible.

Usually the number is based on where the bus is located from VIVA's control center. The only scenarios that would explain this is either the machine broke, the bus that was on route either broke down or was taken off the route or in Purple's case the bus is trapped at York U. VIVA Blue in particular is a strain on the VIVA fleet since ridership requests all articulated AG300s be in service leaving no spare bus at all. VIVA should be receiving 5 more AG300s this year to make up for this.

Do leave the comment, if the machine is really broken its the only way they'll know that it needs to be fixed.
